Delta State Adopts Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children
In a major step toward strengthening child protection systems, the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development has officially adopted the Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children. The landmark event took place yesterday 22nd of October 2025 at the Commissioners Office , Delta State Ministry Of women affairs, community and Social development, Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat following the successful work of the Technical Working Group (TWG), which reviewed and adapted the national framework to suit the unique context of Delta State.
The adoption ceremony was presided over by the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. (Evang.) Princess Pat A. Ajudua (Ph.D), who commended the collaborative efforts of stakeholders in ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of child protection and welfare reforms.
The Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children were formally presented to the Commissioner by the Director of Child Development, Mrs. Evelyn Ekadama, in the presence of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kevwe Agas, and members of the Child Protection Network (CPN) representatives.
The event marks a significant milestone in Delta State’s child protection journey and reaffirms the government’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and well-being of all children

The Child Protection Network (CPN) Delta State Chapter appreciates the unwavering support of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, under the leadership of Hon. (Evang.)
