MIF GREEN BIZ WORKSHOP
Workshop Summary
The
Green Biz Workshop is part of the Green Futures initiative organized by Mega
Impact Foundation and Women and Youth empowerment For Global Change Initiative
in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs Community and
Social Development as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen food security,
promote sustainable livelihoods, and empower vulnerable groups within our
communities. The workshop brought together 100 participants including widows,
youths and farmers, totaling 100 participants. The initiative was designed to
equip participants with practical knowledge in agribusiness, provide startup
resources, and establish mechanisms for long-term economic resilience.
The
workshop took place on the 16th of September 2025 at the Professor
Chike Edozien Secretariat with 80 widowed small-holder farmers and 20 Agripreneurs
in attendance.
Objectives
·
Build
the capacity of widows and youths in modern and sustainable agricultural
practices.
·
Support
household food production and income generation through the provision of farm
inputs.
·
Establish
a financial support structure for participants through a community-based
savings and loan scheme.
Activities
·
Training Sessions: Participants were taken through practical
sessions on agribusiness opportunities, improved farming methods, and
entrepreneurship.
·
Resource Distribution: Widows received seeds and seedlings to kick-start
home-based farming, ensuring immediate application of knowledge gained during
the training.
Group Discussions: Participants engaged in dialogue on innovation and sustainable practices to create opportunities within the agricultural sector

Post-Program Plan
To ensure
sustainability beyond the workshop, participants will be grouped into clusters
to form cooperatives

structured system for collective savings.

to small loans to support agribusiness ventures.

safety net for members in times of financial need.

participants trained and equipped with practical skills in agribusiness.

widows empowered with seeds and seedlings for home stead gardening.

of a post-program structure (cooperative) to enhance financial inclusion and
community support.
Conclusion
The
Green Biz Workshop successfully achieved its objectives by combining knowledge
transfer, resource provision, and sustainability planning. The participation of
widows and youths underscored the importance of inclusive community
development. With the establishment of the VSLA, it is expected that
participants will not only improve their household food security but also build
stronger, self-reliant communities.
