REPORT ON MEGA IMPACT FOUNDATION CHAMPS & PENCIL GREEN ARTS FESTIVAL 6.0 In Commemoration of World Children’s Day Venue: Madonna School for Children with Special Needs, Okpanam, Delta State Date: 20th November, 2025 INTRODUCTION Mega Impact Foundation hosted the 6th edition of the Champs & Pencil Green Arts Festival in celebration of World Children’s Day at Madonna School for Children with Special Needs, Okpanam. The event was organized to promote inclusion, encourage creativity, and amplify the voices of children especially children with special needs on environmental issues and child rights with the theme “A Greener Future: Through the Eyes of a child.
ATTENDANCE The festival recorded over 300 participants, including: • Students and Staff of Madonna School for Children with Special Needs • Children from Divine Mercy Orphanage, Asaba • Dignitaries led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Delta State • Representatives from Voices Without Walls • Representatives from TAF Africa • Representatives from Kick out Landing Estate Ltd. • Representatives of CSO’s • Members , Volunteers and Partners of Mega Impact Foundation
HIGHLIGHTS Opening Remarks Ms. Florence Ogonegbu, Executive Director of Mega Impact Foundation and Convener of the Festival, welcomed all attendees. She highlighted the significance of World Children’s Day as initiated by the United Nations and emphasized the importance of inclusion, particularly for children with special needs in both education and social activities.
Goodwill Messages The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr GT Enone commended the initiative as a laudable step toward promoting inclusion for children with special needs. He assured the audience of his commitment to inform the State Government on the need for increased support to the school. Representatives from Voices Without Walls also delivered a goodwill message. TAF Africa delivered the keynote address, applauding the organizers for championing inclusion and urging the government and stakeholders to fund more programs that promote the inclusion of marginalized groups.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES Art Exhibition Students of Madonna School showcased impressive artworks created from recycled materials, including paintings, bags, beads and textiles. A standout piece was produced by a child with special needs. The exhibition was coordinated by the school’s Fine Arts Teacher.
Tree Planting Exercise Dignitaries, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, participated in planting tree seedlings as part of the festival’s environmental sustainability activities.
Cultural & Dance Performances • A cultural dance by children from Divine Mercy Orphanage, Asaba • A dance presentation by students of Madonna School for Children with Special Needs Games and Fun Activities Students actively participated in balloon games, sack races, egg races, and dance competitions. Winners in each category received gifts.
Drawing Competition The festival also featured a green drawing competition supported by the Harrison Agboro Green Art Award. Three winners received cash prizes and educational materials. • Second Runner-up: Duke Philomena • First Runner-up: Mbah Chinenye • Winner: Ndubuisi Silver
Harrison Agboro Green Art Award – Inspiring Young Eco-Champions for a Greener Future The Harrison Agboro Green Art Award is a driving force behind the Champs & Pencils Green Art Drawing Competition, a key activity of the annual Green Art Festival dedicated to raising a new generation of eco-champions. For the past three years, Harrison Agboro has empowered young people by providing cash prizes and educational materials that support their creative growth and environmental awareness. The competition offers children a powerful platform to express their ideas, imagination, and solutions for protecting the planet. Through art, participants become advocates for climate action, sustainability, and a healthier environment.
SUSTAINABILITY PLANS – SCHOOL GREEN CLUBS To sustain the impact of the festival, Mega Impact Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment launch and reactivate School Green Clubs, starting with Madonna School for Children with Special Needs. These clubs will promote recycling, tree planting, creative arts, and continuous climate education. They will nurture young eco-champions and ensure ongoing inclusion and environmental action throughout the school year.
CONCLUSION The Champs & Pencil Green Arts Festival successfully celebrated World Children’s Day with a strong message of inclusion, creativity, and environmental consciousness. The participation of children with special needs, partners, and dignitaries made the event memorable and impactful.
