Delta State Adopts Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children

In a major step toward strengthening child protection systems, the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development has officially adopted the Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children. The landmark event took place yesterday 22nd of October 2025 at the Commissioners Office , Delta State Ministry Of women affairs, community and Social development, Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat following the successful work of the Technical Working Group (TWG), which reviewed and adapted the national framework to suit the unique context of Delta State. The adoption ceremony was presided over by the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. (Evang.) Princess Pat A. Ajudua (Ph.D), who commended the collaborative efforts of stakeholders in ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of child protection and welfare reforms. The Delta State Technical Working Group (TWG) on domestication of the national guideslibes for the Alternative Care Of Children In Nigeria held a drafting meeting on the 8th of September 2025 at the conference room of the Minstry Of Women affairs Community and Social development to review and adapt the National Guidelines on Alternative Care of Children for implementation in Delta State. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, civil society organizations, and child protection experts.     GREEN BIZ WORKSHOP REPORT Workshop Summary The Green Biz Workshop is part of the Green Futures initiative organized by Mega Impact Foundation and Women and Youth empowerment For Global Change Initiative in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen food security, promote sustainable livelihoods, and empower vulnerable groups within our communities. The workshop brought together 100 participants including widows, youths and farmers, totaling 100 participants. The initiative was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge in agribusiness, provide startup resources, and establish mechanisms for long-term economic resilience.
