Mega Impact Foundation's Contribution To Delta State Anti-Human Trafficking (Prohibition) Law 2024

Our submission is from a youth-focused perspective which is vital in ensuring that the law effectively addresses the needs and realities of children and young people who are disproportionately affected by human trafficking. The UNODC Global Report on Trafficking in Persons (2020) notes that children constitute 34% of detected trafficking victims globally, with girls being the majority of child victims. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) reported that 60-75% of trafficking victims rescued in recent years were under 18 years old. Many are trafficked for domestic servitude, forced labor, and sexual exploitation locally and internationally. As representatives entrusted with shaping policies for the betterment of all citizens, it is imperative that we address these challenges head-on and pave the way for a more inclusive future.
